who cares about getting a huge volley when it can barely get 300dps.

Naga can put out the highest DPS(Around 550 or something with caldari navy midrange charges rather than spike) of any of the new battlecruisers at 150+km range. Oracle is up there for DPS as well with aurora charges. Still think the naga tops it though.

Moreover, why do u need a tank when that far out. Just warp off if anything comes your way.

who cares about DPS at long range when its about alpha?
You need to apply as much damage as fast as you can, thats why you never use Railguns for sniping, a new ship does not change anything.

Btw, the more lag, the less important is DPS. Deliation will only boost that because you have more time to think, choose your target and please consider another option, thanks!.

lawl, its true, t3 fits are boring, but they only just came out so let the theroycrafters craft. tbh it depends what u are doing with the ships.

solo/small gang nado is better. alpha is king, punch thru the most important/lethal ship on the other side is extremely valuable. (a couple of tornados at range would pretty much alpha a logi, etc. For larger gangs, dps is more important as u kill the enemy as a whole faster.

from what range though, not sniping range.

you want alpha, fly an alpha fleet.

No matter how you look at it, naga does better from sniping range when killing large targets.

Alpha fleets were a counter to lag, lag should be reduced by time dilation, high DPS setups will be more viable now.

Krilon Bane struggles to be heard. Krilon Bane struggles to be heard.

Railguns are always shot in OPTIMAL range and have the higher TRACKING in comparison artillery. Who cares about volley if your in falloff, half-missing targets? Okay, maybe that's a bit harsh cuz I love the Tornado. But with my time with the Naga I found railguns being more accurate, higher fire rates, low volley but high DPS (High RoF means more volleys shot in the same amount of time an arty shoots once). All in all, both are good ships. They kill relatively in the same amount of time. But arty is more of a surprise kill cuz at least when a naga shoots at you, you can see your health drop in closely equal increments and can get an idea of how much time you got left. Although when I see tornados its usually an ASAP please consider another option, thanks! moment. Many people undermine the Naga so its dangerous just for that reason.

I know this is a 2011 post and as the MOD said here, DPS was a relatively new concept that rose to become better, specifically for blasters. But even in today's society, artys are known as kings of sniping. I don't argue this point. The more people fear artys over railguns, the better. And the more unwary pilots will get caught by Nagas.
