If you have skills fot Nightmare and you wanna fly it you should have skills for T2 tank. If you dont you should consider another ship for time being.

Edit: Also the guns should be T2 Tachyons

No. You should use Faction tachs.

As uhm.. the fit sucks. You've got it all wrong.

1) 4 Resist mods have such a lot of penalty. Also omnitank not a good tank
2) Cap booster - Nope if you are doing Lvl 4s what you should be.
3) T2 rigs or please consider another option, thanks!
4) Faction heatsinks.
5) 2 TCs

Pirates and griefers target corps because they see players like you, flying something like this. Do your corp a favor and don't fly a faction BS until you can fully T2 tank it. Just because you can fly it, doesn't mean you should.

What these other gentlemen(?) are trying to say is that using non-t2 hardeners leaves you susceptible to dying... easily. With a pretty expensive ship, you don't want to risk it. NEVER fit 4 of the same hardener. Use 3, dependent upon what enemy faction you're fighting (guristas = 2 kinetic, 1 therm). Fit a shield boost amp or a tracking computer in the last mid... depending on how confident you are in the tank. The rest looks fine, though make sure you're packing t2 drones so you can kill frigates quickly if you get scrammed.

Also, many people prefer tach's on the nightmare. I'm personally okay with pulse lasers, but not when they're t1 since you don't have scorch ammo.

Of course I was going to link this. You're flying an 800mill hull; you should have the skills to fit the dang thing properly. Plus, compared to this fit, you're 400mill over it for about two thirds of its effectiveness.

Even if you replaced the T1 crap w/ T2 it'd still be a terrible fit.

At least change to 2x Invulnerability Fields and 2x Boost Amplifiers and swap the fourth Heat Sink for a second Tracking Enhancer, Damage Control, something, anything.

I like the fit cause im a rebel and a non comformist +1 but the fit isnt very good. Fortunately based on this fit, you probably arent going to be flying this anyway

Apparently you dont fly nightmares.

Nightmare still gets 50+ dps from 4th heatsink, and

Amarr Battleship Skill Bonus: 7.5% bonus to Large Energy Turret tracking per level

yes, well.... I do fly nightmares.  And I started too soon.  And lost a few.  It takes a long time to recover from the ISK hit in your kill-board from a few unwise seconds with a ship that is too pricey yet not fit well enough.

That being said, I used t1 tachyons for quite a long time.  They were pretty effective.  On mission ships I almost never use faction ammo because I don't like paying for it or remembering whether or not the stupid crystal is about to crack.

4 heat sinks is a bit much. When you dish out near 1000dps, 50 (in a mission) won't make a hill a beans difference.

The tracking thing is dicey.  True the ship gets a huge tracking bonus.  However, with such large guns, it's sometimes doesn't feel like it.  The pulses are pretty good at hitting things up close, however there are many a mission (L4) that have warp scramming frigs.  Often also these missions will aggro much more if you deploy your drones to kill them.  Catch 22.   If you really need to get un-scrammed then you probably don't want more aggro.

If you go with Tachyon's (and I recommend it for the Alpha alone) then the more tracking enhancers/computers the better.

Mostly, I agree with the folks here that say "Leave this ship in the hanger till you are old enough to drive it with out wrecking it getting out of the garrage."  The Nightmare is a beautiful and wonderful piece of hardware, respect and enjoying it.

sorry -1

PS: I didn't mention the 4 invuls because this is so unwise as to be silly.  Also, it had already been said.

it's about elongating your gun cap time so you only have to cap boost for tank.

sure, your fit is 'better' than the op's but yours is still shit teir - it requires awu5 and/or energy weapon upgrades 5... considering he doesn't even have t2 shield hardeners I think you're a bit off.

minimum spec? LOL.

Alright now that i have actually tried it, let me know what you all think about this. I know it does not have faction, or t2 everything, but again, going for effectiveness for budget and skills. But always appriciate the input - minus the troll vid...

this is the cheapest I'd go. 3 faction heatsinks should be the first upgrade, train t2 guns... a decent complex AB - x or a-type, drop that in instead of either a hardener or a tracking comp depending on the mission.

Not a fan of the t2 invuls? My thought was for more of an all around pvp fit, missioning for sure agree with the above. Thoughts?

this is for pvp? whaaaaaaat.

if you're pvping, fit like this, up the meta levels if you have the isk, have a maxed tengu pilot boosting and get a set of crystals. carry blue pill, SCOUT THE SYSTEMS with a cloaky hauler, covops etc, bonus of cloaky hauler is extra cap booster charges when you need them.

most importantly: crystals, tengu, blue pill. reapproach gate straight away, wait out your session timer etc before you decloak, there's a whole lot to solo/small gang active tanking battleship tactics but it's not all that difficult, you either tank them and keep tackle on some good targets or they get away and you only kill a few small hulls.

jump in places like ec-p8r and some of the other busy high->null/low systems

watch some garmon/wildcat videos, it will give you a much better idea than you can get from written stuff.

Cause you obviously take an ISK hit to your KB when you get NPC raped... Play the game please -_-

As for the fit, you should start small and build up as your SP increases, nightmare really shines with good skills and T2 guns, until then an abaddon gives you more leeway skill wise and wont break the bank if you mess up.

Edit: YES this fit was before even flying the ship - YES this was my first shield tank, all the rest were armor tanks - YES I agree faction would be awesome, however im much closer to t2 so once i have those, they will go on this fit... i would rather just not fly the ship, and wait for t2, then buy faction.
