  What angrylemming said... also if you want to get into caldari, get a drake.  Missiles are Caldari's thing and the drake does missile and tank quite well.

  if you just got into caldari from amarr or minmatar then use either lasers or ACs... they will work much better than hybrids especially if you already have skills for them.

  Passive shield tank rules, so swap booster and amplifier for 2 extenders and fit field purger rigs instead of CCCs. Rails do not suck as badly as people would make you believe, but in the medium range, 200mm rails are much better than 250mm, due to tracking problems. Here is a sample fit

  At my skills (since assuming all V here is a bit silly) it gives me 203 dps without drones (294dps with a flight of T2 hobgoblins), 17+12 range, 47k ehp and 210 tank. Should be good enough to run L3s. Of course swapping invulns for thermal and kinetic gives me 246dps tank and 54k ehp. The cap is at 6 minutes and that should give you plenty of time to kill a lot of stuff and you can take little pauses to replenish the cap.

  I tested it on a corp mate's Megathron and it pwned, but he was low skilled.

  Very, very low skilled, and probably with a disaster of a fit.
  Then again your definition of "pwned" is no doubt very different to everyone elses, as I have frigates that do better dps than this thing.

  Sure, if you kited him at 24km and he had a blaster-fit buffer mega and didn't bumrush you with a MWD, then you'd eventually pwn him. Eventually. In reality...MWD + web = dead ferox.
