First good Vargur setup I've seen in a long time. Odd drone choice though, and could do with more faction.

would this be good for caldari missions? or does that not really matter

Since barrage does half kinetic half explosive (iirc, could be wrong) it wouldn't be nearly as effective in Caldari space. Would still work, but wouldn't be great.

Don't use barrage, it's too gimpy. ~70k falloff with t1 short range kinetic/heat ammo is long enough.

the general consensus on marauders i think is that you should use two tractors and one salvager. this allows you to pull in wrecks faster than you can salvage rather than having to wait to salvage the next wreck you pull in. it helps speed up the salvaging process and therefore more isk/hr

but otherwise what everyone else said, MOAR FACTION. it's fine as-is but marauders really shine when they're carrying more pimpage than, well, a pimp.

also, for caldari space, if you use RF EMP you should easily be able to chew through shields on the mission rats. hammers and hobs are the way to go as well thanks to their high therm damage output

    chairborne warrior has no influence.

I've been flying this setup for the past few days. Works pretty good, great isk/hour, as long as you are aware that you have a loltank, pay attention, and are prepared for the occasional "OMG if my drones don't kill those scrambling frigs in the next 15 seconds I'm out one vargur" moment.

    Practical suggestions:
    * For some (not all) missions, it's more efficient to switch the second salvager for another tractor beam.
    * Until you have trained marauders IV (and possibly even then), replace the tracking computer with a third hardener. Trust me, you will need the tank more than the tracking.
    * You absolutely must pay attention to the triggers and aggro mechanics in your mission. This is a fit that doesn't give you much of a margin of error.
    * Start saving for a deadspace shield booster. Yes, gist booster ain't cheap, but for a vargur, it is absolutely worth it.

Looks familiar, but still great. ;)

    needs more faction pimpage.

I'd cry nonsense, but I've been guilty of the Battleclinic Pimping Plague myself before. The only pimpage the Vargur needs is RF Gyros and a T2 burst aerator.

That 1 minute 2 minutes max is if you run the modules constantly, which you don't. Only pulse the shield booster when your shields get below 33%, and only use the AB to close range to 40-30KM of a chunk of targets, and your cap will last just fine through all but the toughest missions.

I prefer having a cap booster most of the time, but if you fly a setup like this for a while you'll realize that if you manage your modules properly, you'll rarely be using the booster. Cap stability is for the lazy and the inefficient. ;)

ED for the OP: If you replace the Shield Boost Amplifier with a third mission specific hardener, your cap will last longer and your tank will be more effective regardless of what EFT tells you. It lets your small but significant shield recharge do more of the work, and smoothes out the damage spikes so that both your shields and capacitor can stay at the peak regen points longer.
