That's hardly the "best" thorax fit (even if there were such a thing) given how slow it is. Not bad, but hardly the ultimate Rax.

It's entirely situational. There is no ultimate rax, and your suggestion that it's the best is arrogant and misleading.

I personally don't like running an active tank without a Cap Booster, particularly with a cap reliant weapon system like blasters. This fit has a sturdy buffer, and good DPS, however with a mag-stab instead of the repper you will have a sturdy buffer and impressive DPS (about 480 with 'all V's). You'll need to downgrade one of your mids to best-named for the CPU to fit - i recommend the scrambler, since it has the same range as T2 but can be overheated longer :D

I do know players who use a mix of plate and repper, primarily for low-sec solo pirating, where gate guns need to be taken into consideration and repairs at safe spots are often needed, so a bit of buffer with a local rep is desirable. That fit went something like this:

    [Thorax, pirate 'rax]
    Damage Control II
    Medium Armor Repairer II
    Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
    Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
400mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I

    Warp Scrambler II
Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 25
    10MN MicroWarpdrive I

Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M

Heavy Electron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M

    Medium Trimark Armor Pump I

    Hammerhead II x5

It's by no means an ultimate fit, a lack of web means small ships will give you problems (two flights of small drones might help that issue) but it does what it's designed to well, provided you pick your targets well.

The Thorax is a ship that can be fit many ways for many roles, and like Sendell said, it's entirely situational. What it boils down to is whatever works best for you and your style of play!

Oh btw the 1600mm rax is about the same speed as the 800mm rax and has more buffer due to having less trimark pump.

I personally fit my rax like a rupture, 1600mm plate, dcu, and 3 mag stabs, granted I only have awu 4 so I have to use 2 ancillary routers which sucks but oh well.
