The assault launchers are a great idea, being able to focus drone DPS in larger ships is certainly a good thing.

However this is crazy overtanked for level 4s.

It won't run level 5's no where close, plus you need full passive because of neut towers.(nighthawks and ishtars can because they can manage a 2k DPS full passive tank)

Fit an afterburner and a sentry damage rig.

I believe this has better dps, with more dps versatility than any similarly tanked drake. 

Thanks again for you comments Mike.  The dps versatility is also why I like this over an ishtar.  HAC V and you are still short a full set of light drones, and I only have HAC IV.

I find it a little confounding that the gila, with its additional mid slot and shield resists bonuses, isn't getting quite the same tank as the ishtar.  Maybe there is a dual PvE gila spider shield transferring setup that's possible here that isn't with the ishtar - thanks to the added CPU?  I'll mess around with that next.  Of course, it would need cap transfers as well to be viable in level 5s, so it's probably asking too much.

I'll admit I've not looked in EFT to see if they'll even fit but what are the reasons behind 4 SPR II and no BCU in every Gila fit I see?

Is the CPU really tight even with Weapon Upgrades V? Or is it that you might as well slap on more tank as the missile dps is so poor anyway?

(I'll probably answer my own question when I get home with regards to fitting requirements) :o

From what I've seen of level 5 setups, this should be able to run them.  If I'm wrong let me know.  My PvE is in null sec, and I know this can handle some of the most difficult encounters in null sec.

If you are using this in low or null sec and have another pilot salvaging, then you can get rid of the salvage and tractor in favor of a cloak.

The tank is anti-Serpentis.  For anti-Guristas just switch kinetic and thermal resistance mods.  For rats with 3 or 4 damage types, you may be better off with another large shield extender, an invuln II, and two well selected passive mods.

Against Serpentis:

DPS with Ogres is over 500.  Gardes put it just under 500.  Curators just over 400.  You are only getting 43dps with 309 volley from the missiles, but they serve a purpose.

Since primary dps is coming from drones, you're better off not using drones to kill the small stuff.  I considered rockets for this purpose, dps is comprable and explosion radius less,0 but range is sucky.  Frigs are often the triggers for additional swarms as well, so it's not always wise to obliterate them with your light/medium drones before you touch the BSs.

Gardes are nice afk damage dealers.  If the bad guys are too close, switch to Ogres.  If they are too far, switch to curators.  Serpentis rats either come in close or sit at about 52, which is within E War Drone IV range.  If you are dealing with rats that sit further out, then ditch missile launchers all together and throw on a DLA and take some bouncers or wardens with you
