This is my theoretical loadout for a dedicated blaster proteus for lvl 4 missions. This is the loadout i'm thinking of going for, any advice is more than welcome. Not sure exactly what type of ammo most people use in their T2 weapons, I'm still training them so I've not had a chance to try it out.

Stats with all skills at lvl 5.
The resists with the current setup (hardeners can be changed for the mission):
EM 62.5
THERM 88.6
KIN 94.3
EXP 32.5

DPS/optimal range  with:
Void: 610 / 3880km
Null: 479 / 6470km
Antimatter: 523 / 2580km

K, for lvl 4's that is a pretty short range setup you have there. I'd go with rails. You will finish the mission much more quickly if you can hit your target from afar. Otherwise you will have to burn towards each of them.

Another option, would be to totally change your subsystems to create a drone oriented proteus. Sentry and/heavy drones will make real short work of most npc's...prbly a flight of lights as well to take out the frigs and things.

To tank lvl 4's yes the prot has great resists, but you will prbly want to dual medium rep, just to be safe. I'd put the 2nd rep in instead of one of the dmg mods.

P.S. If you do go with the drone boat proteus, you will have to find something else to do with some of those high slots, since you usually won't get 5 open turrets. Maybe a drone link augmentor or a nos...or both?

Thanks for the advice, I've made up a pretty good drone boat proteus, however its so similar to some of the other loadouts already up that I refrained from posting it. I was worried about the extreme short range, I'm sure this ship can kill most things in lvl 4s, but it might prove to be boring

go with rails then if you want to shoot stuff personally :-)

You wouldn't get as much dps obviously, but you'd get enough. Could keep this loadout pretty much intact as well.

P.S. I'd still suggest a 2nd repper, and probably a cap booster instead of that lone recharger.

Yes, I know boosters are for PvP and chargers are for PvE... but I've always found that dogma to be kind of dumb honestly. Boosters make more sense, allow you to run your stuff longer/warp out less.....

unless you have enough rechargers fitted to make you cap stable......

but even then, by that point you've prbly sucked up so many of your medium slots that you will take ALOT longer on your missions....cuz you'd have no ab/web/tracking help...etc. The time you'd save by actually using your meds prbly will make you more isk than what you will have to pay for the booster charges....

Long story short: If you can only afford to fit 1-2 rechargers on a fit cuz you decided to use your meds for other things (which is not a problem) then a cap booster is going to be better than rechargers.

The changes ended up adding quite a bit of range to the ship. I took off the web due to the newer long range optimal range. I had to remove the optimal range rig (no big deal) in exchange for an ACR to get enough powergrid for the 2nd rep. The end result is slightly lower DPS. Then duel reppers can be run for 3 min, otherwise the ship is stable with the single repper running.

Sweet. Looks good. Depending the mission, you might want a 3rd hardner in exchange of one of the dmg mods....but not for every mission, just the ones where your opponents will be dealing explosive and/or EM dmg.

Other than that, it looks good. I'm sure others will throw in their 2 cents as well. But this fit, the way it is now should do fine for most lvl 4's.

just wondering what the usefullness if such an expensive ship is soley for mssion running any battleship is a fraction of the cost and from the looks of it actually would run the missions faster then a setup like this with less headach and not as much "omg if i loose this ship im screwed" mentallity.

but if thats your thing man you go for it
