  What would you suggest for upgrading the tank? Also, which Shield Boost Amplifier would you suggest? I'm fairly poor after purchasing my Hulk, thus why the sub-par modules so far.

  your hulk is good!!! forget the armour, who is there to shoot you exept rats? If i were you, i'd work on the drone skills! first get mining drone II (becouse you are poor) and after that Hammerhead II (that way you will be sure of not getting powned )

  If you have really overstretched yourself apon purchasing this hulk I'd recommend as much buffer tank as possible to protect your investment until you at least make some isk to cover the cost if you did happen to get suicide ganked.
  
  A maximum buffer will include a damage control 2 tech 2 small shield extenders and 2 tech 2 invulnerability fields.

  i run a few miners and never had any of them ganked, yet.  chances are very slim it will happen.
  if you're mining afk, like me.  keep the same rigs/lows., mids should have some buffer with inv. field.  mining laser upgrades only if you are not afk and have a hauler.  OR just mine ice until the price of ore goes up.
