Open fitting in EVEHQ
You may have come across the option in various BattleClinic loadouts to "Open fitting in EveHQ" and wandered what it does and how to set it up, so I'll briefly explain.

The option in BattleClinic for opening the fitting is really just a special link which contains data about the fitting. If configured correctly, web browsers can be instructed how to respond to clicking those links such as opening a new page or starting a download. In this case, the link will ultimately show the fitting in HQF - the EveHQ Fitting plug-in.

First, we need to configure Windows to recognise the protocol (that's the part of the link that read "fitting://"). With HQF already open, go into the HQF options and select the General Options. In there, you will see a Fitting Protocol section which shows the current status of the protocol (enabled or disabled) and appropriate buttons to toggle this state. Simply click the Enable button and this should allow the fitting:// protocol to be recognised by web browsers with the status updated accordingly.

Please note that the step above writes a value into the registry and therefore you will need to have administrator rights to do this. In Vista or Windows 7, you will need to run EveHQ as Administrator for this part only.

And that's really all that's required. With the protocol status active, clicking on the links in the BattleClinic loadouts will show the fitting in a special browser window in HQF (so you can see DPS, tank etc). If EveHQ or HQF is not loaded, then these will be loaded as appropriate so the fitting can be displayed.

The fitting:// protocol has been tested and working in IE, Firefox, Safari and Chrome but any issues, please let me know.

This is intended to be a relatively cheap pvp mega for usage in fleets (NOT SOLO - hence no tackle).   I don't have access to T2 guns.  This setup will just barely fit once i have Electronics V.

I can switch to Neutrons once i have enough ranks in AWU

use mine, and upgrade to t2 as needed. it's your generic gank and what's better is if you use it t1, with no rigs, you can insure it and still come out with more money than you spent.

Krinkles:  I can upgrade to neutrons once my skills improve .. i created an EFT profile for what i'll have in december.

Switching out one of the EANM2s and the ERNM2 for Magstab 1s (don't have Weap Upgrades IV) looses me about 20k EHP, but puts the dps to 388 (this is with the character profile that doesn't have Gallente BS or Large Hybrid Turret trained yet).

As for your mids vs my mids.  I'm not soloing so i think i'm going to stick to the faster lock time setup that i have going on with mine.

i'm going to create a profile for what i'll have trained in a few weeks to use for playing with this fit instead of my EFT profile that is the real character as it is today.

well just remember to train those gunnery support skills up. my generic gank fit, when upgraded to t2, gets (i think) just short of 1k dps, or probably more. lemme check

*EDIT* i was right, it gets 21 over 1k dps, and has an ehp of 103k. also, a web or two is beneficial for you as it will slow down targets substantially, and allow for your guns to track much more easily. however if you need quick lock, a web, two sebo's (with scan res scripts) and a mwd is what you want. here's the fit:

yeah i have them in my queue.  I'm only a 8m SP player right now, and my skills aren't as focused as they should be.   I updated the fit with Magstabs and using a character profile that reflects what i'll have for a character in 3 to 4 weeks (it has Gallente BS and Large hybrids trained).

    *edit*
nice fit you pasted there.  I'm not concerned about web because when I take this baby out i'll always have interceptors with me, or newbs with frigates [been there! done that! got a lot of kills in january being the frigate newb doing tackle] to tackle.

Ogres do boost the DPS a lot, but that cannot hit cruisers very well - the enemies i usually fight fly cruisers and smaller (in fact normally fly covops and hide like pussies)
  • July 04, 2009, 01:27:56 pm

remember weapon upgrades 5, then advanced weapon upgrades, since you really need advanced weapon upgrades for a gunboat (AWU reduces pg usage of turrets). also, i would keep 5 ogres in your dronebay, because whatever you're shooting with those guns an ogre should be able to hit too. also, since you have a gankboat here, you really won't run out of cap unless you keep the mwd running, so a cap booster is not needed. same for the LRARII, which imo is a waste of a high which you could more effectively use for a energy neutralizer or nosferatu. oh yeah, and never sit still, it gives the enemy an easy shot on you and allows him to hit you with moar damage.
  • July 04, 2009, 01:37:57 pm

well see now it's better.  magstabs make a big difference.  but you should rig it, this is an 80m battleship, at the very least put 2 hybrid weapon rigs on it to add another 10%-20% dps.
  • July 04, 2009, 01:38:43 pm

oh both of those are in my queue, by december i'll have AWU4, i don't have AWU5 scheduled for quite a long time (until after most of my tech 2 training).

The LRARII is for big spidertanking goodness.  the cap booster is needed in the event that a) i need to keep the MWD running for > 1m30s [not likely] b) need extra cap for the LRARII.

    *edit*
if i drop the booster and replace it with a web, and drop the LRARII i can go neutron guns in august.  can't fit a heavy nos or neut, insufficient PG

now with Meta 4 guns in the fit
  • July 04, 2009, 02:12:22 pm

dropped the LRARII and the CBII, replaced them with a Heavy 'Knave' Energy Drain and a X5 webber respectively.
