Open fitting in EVEHQ
You may have come across the option in various BattleClinic loadouts to "Open fitting in EveHQ" and wandered what it does and how to set it up, so I'll briefly explain.

The option in BattleClinic for opening the fitting is really just a special link which contains data about the fitting. If configured correctly, web browsers can be instructed how to respond to clicking those links such as opening a new page or starting a download. In this case, the link will ultimately show the fitting in HQF - the EveHQ Fitting plug-in.

First, we need to configure Windows to recognise the protocol (that's the part of the link that read "fitting://"). With HQF already open, go into the HQF options and select the General Options. In there, you will see a Fitting Protocol section which shows the current status of the protocol (enabled or disabled) and appropriate buttons to toggle this state. Simply click the Enable button and this should allow the fitting:// protocol to be recognised by web browsers with the status updated accordingly.

Please note that the step above writes a value into the registry and therefore you will need to have administrator rights to do this. In Vista or Windows 7, you will need to run EveHQ as Administrator for this part only.

And that's really all that's required. With the protocol status active, clicking on the links in the BattleClinic loadouts will show the fitting in a special browser window in HQF (so you can see DPS, tank etc). If EveHQ or HQF is not loaded, then these will be loaded as appropriate so the fitting can be displayed.

The fitting:// protocol has been tested and working in IE, Firefox, Safari and Chrome but any issues, please let me know.

GOD NO. I am not a gallente spec and still I feel like crying when I see that. Daaamn :)
  • July 04, 2009, 05:23:34 am

wow good setup btw people stop flaming would you he has a 791 DPS tank that can last 20 minutes (with guns a NOS off) i'd like to see you get a armor tank that could do that a DPS that could reach 700 so i don't see anythying wrong with it :P and + Ifi were him i wouldn't bother with guns if you wish this is a super safe lv 4 missioner
  • July 04, 2009, 05:26:52 am

Indeed, level 4 mission domi if ever i did see one.
There is nothing wrong with a passive tanked dominix, if your not PvPing with it.
  • July 04, 2009, 05:31:12 am

except it fails as a mission boat.  no drone link aug, no cap to run blasters, no propulsion mod to get in range of battleships with blasters, only heavy drones, etc.......
  • July 04, 2009, 05:40:10 am

And I bring you.. the armor tanked dominix!

    Tanking ~700 dps kin/therm
    dealing 716 dps

    Does lack propulsion mod.
Does require a +1% powergrid implant (cheaper than chips)

except it fails as a mission boat.  no drone link aug,
With good skills, why would you even need one for missions?

    Quote
    no cap to run blasters,
If it were my domi, id actually fit salvagers and tractor beams instead.
But, the nos should provide enough cap to run those blasters against a close-in BS. I guess thats all he would be using them for anyway.

    Quote
no propulsion mod to get in range of battleships with blasters,
I don't think he wants to go chasing after stuff, imo they would only be for stuff that comes in close.

    Quote
    only heavy drones, etc.......
Perhaps CBA to post all the drones/ammo that he carries?
It is an optional field, and tbqh drones are situational.
I would change my drone set based on the best type of damage for the mission.
  • July 04, 2009, 05:58:48 am

yea a shield domi is good for lv 4's but the fact this guy has fitted guns makes it quite a poor one
  • July 04, 2009, 06:05:58 am

    what is this slap chop?

With good skills, why would you even need one for missions?
well you can target far away but if you have no ranged weapons and no DLA you can't hit anything out there, just draw aggro and wait.

and it'd be fine against close range bs.  now you're left with the ships you can't hit: 80% of bs and every other ship in the mission.  at least with ranged weapons you can hit everything from a distance, and still hit bs up close.

which is not much.  so the guns are pretty ineffective.

of course.  so why bother posting a fit that is only different from other passive domis on here by its non-artillery high slots?  it's less effective because it's close range blasters, and you're dependent on medium nos just to keep your invulns going.

i'm not saying it won't work, it's just not very good.

My god he has 7 shield power relays and you people think it could actually be good for something? he has no cap recharge and relies on blasters.

What possibly can that fit be good for??.

with no propulsion upgrade and no cap he's dead in the water for just about anything. sure in pve he might get to tank some stuff but the blasters are useless so its up to the drones.

Any more than 3 SPR and any ship will either have no cap to warp arround (PVP) or will have no cap for guns or active tank (drake not included - but even there I use 1 SPR)

did you see the NOS's or not?
  • July 05, 2009, 01:29:02 am

    Yeah I saw it.

So what?? You count that you find some rats to nos at your mission warp in point so you can have enough cap to fire the guns?

These ship setup only looks good on EFT if you put it in any combat situation (PVE or PVP) it's a fail.

Simple test would be to actually fit a domi like that and go run a lvl4.

Lack of something to nos I really thing its gonna be a problem, also lack of some AB would make running missions a pain in the exhaust pipes.

Eve is what 7 years old? Think these is first attempt to fit these ship like that? If these was a viable fit in any given combat situation these would have been a standard fit already.

i don't use an a/b on my lv 4 runner as i said its a super safe lv 4 runner good for noobs really
  • July 05, 2009, 04:20:42 am

Mmmm. I guess then only the "test of fire" :) will tell how good actually is. :)

nope it is bad for the simple fact that if you arn't gonna use the highs for salvaging then the ship needs damage mods.

Neither of these has occured so bad fitting.

The only way to fit a decent shield tank on this is by using an active tank (and this would really require faction/complex stuff)
  • July 05, 2009, 08:14:47 am

wow... was just posting this up for a friend of mine to try it out... I am full gallente spec as well and I prefer my armour tank, but hey if myrms can passive shield tank why can't a domi.

ok changed the blasters to rails (was only trying to boost the DPS with blasters so my friend could try)... but yeah rails would do wonders in missions.

Could take out one of the guns for a drone link augmenter as well but once again i didn't really feel the need since the rails are there now and most missions are within range of drones anyway.

I personally can't use this setup as I'm a full armour tanker. I prefer the traditional armour tanking but I figured this was a bit more creative and got my friend to try it out... I still use my perma armour tanking but in EFT this setup does appear better no matter how i look at it. So if you can post an armour tank setup with better than 791 tank please do.

also please don't get aggressive it was just an idea i'm playing around with =.="
