Open fitting in EVEHQ
You may have come across the option in various BattleClinic loadouts to "Open fitting in EveHQ" and wandered what it does and how to set it up, so I'll briefly explain.

The option in BattleClinic for opening the fitting is really just a special link which contains data about the fitting. If configured correctly, web browsers can be instructed how to respond to clicking those links such as opening a new page or starting a download. In this case, the link will ultimately show the fitting in HQF - the EveHQ Fitting plug-in.

First, we need to configure Windows to recognise the protocol (that's the part of the link that read "fitting://"). With HQF already open, go into the HQF options and select the General Options. In there, you will see a Fitting Protocol section which shows the current status of the protocol (enabled or disabled) and appropriate buttons to toggle this state. Simply click the Enable button and this should allow the fitting:// protocol to be recognised by web browsers with the status updated accordingly.

Please note that the step above writes a value into the registry and therefore you will need to have administrator rights to do this. In Vista or Windows 7, you will need to run EveHQ as Administrator for this part only.

And that's really all that's required. With the protocol status active, clicking on the links in the BattleClinic loadouts will show the fitting in a special browser window in HQF (so you can see DPS, tank etc). If EveHQ or HQF is not loaded, then these will be loaded as appropriate so the fitting can be displayed.

The fitting:// protocol has been tested and working in IE, Firefox, Safari and Chrome but any issues, please let me know.

Part of a 4-6 RR BS fleet setup. Each has a Large Energy transfer to make a cycle giving all more cap than they burn (with Energy Emission Systems IV) and keeps stable with 1 RR on whoever is targeted by the Sleepers plus the painter

Drones change as needed - usually run it with waves of expendable light ones

this "thing" dose less damage than a caracal you might want to think about that
  • June 22, 2009, 03:54:54 pm

Hey Stogie, thanks for the comment!

Now who said anything about damage? :-p

Anyhow with all V's this gets up to 260DPS - please note this is NOT for PVP gangs - just Sleeper BSs in C5 wspace - and hits them quite nicely too with 5-6 painters on them they light up like a lighthouse :-)

Besides the painter there is little room for any BCS in the lows as you need all the resists you can get to tank. Armor tanking is used because as a fleet it's more efficient to use Armor tank for all - even Caldari BSs.

I would love to see a caracal surviving just one hit from a Sleeper BS - lol - they hit for like 1500 wrecking and when you face 6 of em the almost 70K effective HPs this one got barelly last till the RRs get to you :-)

i would s start cross training into a armor tanking race...

There's already a fail armor tank raven on here, we dont need another one.

This fit is so horrid it has to be a troll.

I also see that someone took the time to tag it as gank.  I guess if you consider flying this a way of saying "Come and gank me!" then yes, it is gank.

Since very few people actually ever been on a wormhole better than a C5 with a Caldari ship - as it appears by comments in these forums - here are some facts for you folks on farming Class 5 wormholes:

    1. It can be done with a gank of 6-8 RR BSs
    2. All of these BSs need to have the same tank - armor or shield or else you need twice as many
    3. It's easier to Armor tank a Raven than to shield tank a Domi etc..
    4. This "thing" nets me close to 2 B ISK / month with casual farming of C5s with my corpmates
    5. We've lost none of these babys yet so the build is solid

@ RagingRifter - yep I'd rather be flying armor tanked ships (see 2 above) but good luck trying to fit a Domi or an Abaddon with shields - only the Hyperion can be turned into a decent shield tank but it's easier to turn Caldari BSs into Armor tanks than vise versa

@ Augin Soric - thanks for indicating there was another armor tanked raven in these forums lol

@ Chssmius - you consider "Gank" to be a pvp-only-fleet abreviation, whereas I see it as "it needs other ships to be effective"... In any case this ship needs others to RR it - it was designed with that in mind

Words are defined first on consensus until they make it into a dictionary, then their meaning will evolve based on consensus through use.

"Gank" is an actual word meaning(among other things) to steal or take something (see here and here).  In Eve and most games(especially online games), to gank infers to kill or "to steal life."  So a "gank fit" puts the ability to kill (DPS) above other considerations and using the word in a drastically different way is simply incorrect.  I believe the word you are looking for is actually "gang" as it fits much better, but enough on etymology.

I still think you are a troll, though I am beginning to think you might not know any better.

    -----

If you really are serious about this fit then I think you have a lot of work to do to improve it.  The mids and lows are kind of poor.  At the very least, the ANP IIs should be replaced with EANM IIs as that will net you about a ~10% to ~20% better tank.

I can kind of understand your choice of using CRs for indefinite cap stability when you don't know if your guys can make it out of the system and back to the gang but five is just overkill.  You can take one off and still be cap stable while running the TP and RR with good skills.  If you take one off you can fit an AB or a web or about anything else and still run the PWNAGE and the LRARS II as long as you don't get neuted.  For that matter, you could fit a Cap booster for when you do get neuted or to help with long term cap stability.  The remaining two active hardeners can also be switch to passive so one person gets neuted there resists at least aren't in jeopardy.  Additionally, passive resits will save a little cap and you don't need to remember to turn them on.

Lastly, the penalties/benefits inside each WH are relative so you had better not be bringing armor RR when the WH has heavy armor penalties and shield benefits.

@ Chssmius: Well you could have saved yourself some time if you would have added some constructive feedback in your original post.

So, indeed you are correct, EANM IIs are far superior and I must admit I had the "Refuge" before going to Hull Upgrades V, this is why I have the ANP IIs in this fit. So I stand corrected here.

For the mids though, the thing is I have no need for AB and little need for web since usually is a Assault Ship taking care of that.

However, there is some NOS from BSs but they only do so at the same time they fire at you - at which point you don't have to RR anyone else so you build your cap. Anyhow I'll give some thought on alternatives to the extra CR - although it's nice to feel you'll be cap stable no matter what.

For the hardeners, I'll stick with active ones - the total resits are all 78%+ (80% at all V's) which is good enough for C5s.

I recommened you check out the fitting tool inside EvEHQ - http://www.evehq.net - I consider it to be much better than EFT and also contains effects from Wormhole Anomalies so you can see what will happen to your ship based on the Class and anomaly type. Indeed in some cases we have changed to typical shield tanking for our Caldari ships when in wspace that gives shield bonuses.

And yes, I am serious with this fit - it works and it works great - for any Caldari pilot trying to fit in a fleet of Armor Tankers with nothing but LRARS this is a great fit. I've been living in wspace for over a month now and I had tons of fun while making this fit work.

Based on the feedback from this thread (besides flame and trolls) the fact that the only change I need to do is to change to EANM IIs then I'd say it can't get lot better than this.

So thanks for your time - now you can go back to whatever it is you are doing (searching for the etymology of words such as "Gank" - I must say I am impressed!) and thanks for dropping by :-)

3 Large capacitor batteries instead cap recharges will make capacitor last little longer
  • August 28, 2009, 04:10:48 am

Thanks for the feedback volodar, I'll be sure to give it a try - my cap skills are less than perfect so not sure what's better :-)
  • August 28, 2009, 09:35:44 am

3 large capacitor battery IIs will put you over budget on CPU with two empty mids unless you downgrade other modules.

Each large battery will add 700 capacitor or around ~10%(decreasing with each battery) to the battery where a CR II will reduce capacitor recharge time by 20% each time.

Math says the CR IIs are better and easier to fit.  I still say this fit has one too many of them and there should be something else there.

i"l give you + ... and for good reason..i"w done this many times with prety much same fit.... and it works better than any other ship ....yes it got low dps but when u combine it with 6 same at once it makes one big monster ship with 1600 dps -more and quite powerfull tank... as i seen sleepers do much more then 1500 damage and sometimes it"s wrecking damage but if u got fleet of 7 armored ravens with 1*large remote armor rep on evry it makes ur ship tanks like carrier or more... but fleet must be coordinated perfectly to see when will sleepers change targets and start attacking others...  another thing... i hate when noobs coment about things they don"t KNOWWWW ! and never will know... only stupud mdf"s do that... why ? don"t know .. probly becaseu they don"t like that somebody other got better fit then they do.. so plz ! all noobs who do that... i beg u to stop becaseu this is perfectly good ship for c5 wh"s...

    thx.NP see u in wh

I'd argue that gank is an abbreviation of gang kill, and hence this ship would fit that definition.

When you are ganked it means you were gang killed, not that you were soloed person a) had more DPS and or tank than you, B) alpha'd your arse.
